The Story of HOPE རེ་བ།

The name HOPE comes from a promise made in 2019 to Jetsun Pema la, sister of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the beloved ཨ་མ་ལགས། mother of the Tibetan Children's Village.

After leading bakery workshops and cooking classes in Mcloed Ganj and at Selakui ITI Vocational school between 2015 – 2025, Chef Losang Tsetan Barshee made a heartful vow to Ama Jetsun Pema la:

“When I retire, I will return and open a culinary cooking school for TCV”

That moment stayed in his heart. In Spring 2024, he returned to keep that promise. When he asked Ama la for support, she offered Home number 40. At its entrance now stands a marble plaque honoring the first sponsor whose contribution made this home possible, a place they named “HOPE.”
